To the parents/guardians of the student body:

As your student heads home, you may be wondering exactly why the Avengers have decided to discontinue the Academy curriculum. When the Aveng-

"No." Hank hit the backspace on his keyboard once more in frustration, watching with mild pleasure as the words he'd typed out ceased to exist. "Bad start. Terrible start." He'd been grousing over the letter he'd planned on sending home to the parents explaining why a punch of super-powered teenagers were, for no apparent reason, being sent back home. Every time he wrote something down, the words seemed to ring out false in his mind, no matter the approach he took to get to that point.

It's been a real pleasure working with and teaching the youth you have sent to the Academy. Another Avenger had once famously been quoted as saying "With Gre-"

Deleted, this time with no feeling of guilt.

"Perhaps the reason you're finding it difficult to put your actions into words is because you don't believe in the course you took," The voice was one Hank immediately recognized. Pietro Maximoff, a former adversary, a longtime ally, and though Pietro would never say it out loud, he was also a close friend.

"I'm surprised you even care," Hank replied without turning around. There was no burst of sudden inspiration, though. Nor even a burst of rehashed crap he'd already typed out. Instead he just stared at the blinking cursor on the screen, black on white.

"I don't," Pietro confessed. "I was just sick of hearing you wail about this all night long." Pietro for 'of course I care, you idiot.'

"If you have any ideas, Pietro, I'm all ears." It was meant to sting, but the words and delivery are laughably weak.

"You could tell them about how you abandoned them," Pietro replied. Hank shot him an offended look to which Pietro merely shrugged. "I say only the truth, Henry. 'Dear Mom and Dad. Unless, of course, you're Jeanne or Ava, whose families are criminals or dead. I was a coward and that's why I sent the children you hate so much back to you. Please, make sure you do the job you so obviously failed at the first time, because I can't help but make everything about myself. When things start seeming insurmountably bleak, rem-"

"Are you done yet?"

Pietro quirked an eyebrow. "I think I would say I'm only getting started, Henry."

"I didn't give up on them." his words sounded hollow, even to his own ears.

"You did, Henry Pym!" Pietro's shout caught him off-guard, the man now only a few inches from his face. "You abandoned these children, just like you have every other important thing in your life. And I bet you were just waiting to mail these off so you can mope around in your damnable laboratory once more! They need you, Henry, and you're just sitting here like a stubborn old man who is too afraid to go outside to get his newspaper."

"But Emma Frost--"

"Is behaving like Emma Frost. I can tell you that much right now. When I was a child, do you know how much I would have gone through to get my sister and I into this academy and not worry about my father and others coming to corrupt or kill us? This is a place for these children to heal and trust once more. If we had been here, perhaps I would be a different man than from today."

Henry sighed and lowered his face into his hands. Pietro stalked off with a casual, "We both know what you want to do. So either do it or stop crying like a child and move on."

It was some time before he moved from his position. He had his words now. He knew what to tell them all. It was a stroke of genius, and already he started feeling much better.

To the students and staff of Avengers Academy:

I hope you enjoyed your time away. Consider this your vacation time. The new semester will be starting in two weeks. If you still wish to be part of this school experience, you'll be in Los Angeles on time. If you need transportation provided for you, call me or send an e-mail.

My regards,
Dr. Henry Pym
